Android Recovery Mode is a special kind of place that comes in handy when you need to factory reset your phone, install a new update, or physically inspect your device. Android Recovery Mode is a hidden menu of your tablet. Either you are using a note-taking tablet, animation tablet, or phone. It comes in handy when your device gets into trouble or you want to exploit some of its hidden features. Here we show how to enter recovery mode on the top five Android devices.

How to Use Android Recovery Mode?

When you need to put your phone into Recovery Mode, there is no one-size-fits-all solution. Since phones have custom ROMs and hardware features, it’s helpful to have a guide for each model. This tutorial will look at the newer Samsung devices and Google devices, but you can find instructions for older models on the manufacturer’s website or on your carrier’s website.

Always start by fully charging your device and then holding down the power button and tapping Power off.

For Samsung Tablets:

  1. Plug a USB-C cable into your tablet and connect it to your computer.
  2. Hold down the Power and Volume Up buttons together for a few seconds, and let go when you see the Samsung logo and feel a vibration. If your phone has a Bixby button, then you must hold that down as well.
  3. You should briefly see the Android mascot on screen before the recovery menu appears, and you can use the Volume buttons to highlight options and the Power button to trigger them.

On Google Pixel Tablet:

  1. Hold down the Power and Volume Down buttons together for a few seconds, and let go when you see a triangle with an exclamation point in it on screen.
  2. Use the Volume Down button to cycle through the options until you find Recovery mode and press the Power button to load it.
  3. If you see an Android mascot on its back with the words No command, then you need to press and hold the Power button and press the Volume Up button once, then let go of both buttons.
  4. You should see the recovery menu now, and you can use the Volume buttons to highlight options and the Power button to trigger them.
