Corrupted keyboard driver 

Outdated or corrupted drivers could prevent your keyboard from connecting and responding. Hover your mouse around the Start button (on the bottom left of your desktop screen), right-click on Device Manager, and then click on Uninstall a device to see if there is a keyboard or driver in control. If you do not see a keyboard or driver, plug in the USB adapter again, restart your computer and then check again.
